I'm considering trading my 2016 Audi Q3 2.0 TFSi (Quattro) for a Skoda Karoq 2.0 4 x 4.

Does the Skoda have the same engine / drivetrain as the Q3? It seems to be a much higher spec car than the current Q3 (but for 8k less).
If it has the same engine / Quattro system but options not available on a new Q3, what's not to like?

I think (but not 100% sure) that your current Q3 will be basically same as mk1 Tiguan (wife had a late 2015 one).

VW Group changed the platform just after then to the newer MQB - Karoq (and Ateca and Audi Q2) are on MQB A1. Newer Q3 and Tiguan mk2 are on MQB A2.

Drive-train wise they'll all be the same - although if you're looking at the "same" engine, they're forever slightly changing them.

Wife went from mk1 Tiguan to Karoq as she thought mk2 Tiguan was too big (wouldn't have it that they're effectively the same).

Karoq is a very handy size - big enough for most purposes but easy to park etc. Like everything else that gets upgraded, it doesn't have the same hewn-from-granite feel the mk1 Tiguan had.
