DB11 - Rear Diff Cover Leaking
Discussion
Just had my 2017 DB11 serviced and the tech pointed out that the differential coolant cover is showing signs of leaking and badly bowing.
Apparently the cover is made of some sort of reinforced plastic and not as robust as it should be.
I was told it not a common issue but as they keep them in stock it’s also not unusual.
Anyone else heard of this or has any comments to make?
Replacement cost is the best part of £1K.
The health check video mentions the issue but it’s so dark and there is a large heat shield obscuring the area so it’s not clear for me to see.
Also, screen wash bottle is leaking - replacement cost is £650! I know these cars are expensive but that’s ridiculous. Not as ridiculous as the Bentley Continental washer bottle which is £1,675 to replace! Perhaps I should be grateful the Aston’s is so “affordable”.
Thanks.

Mine had the same problem (2020 DB11) Had the diff coolant cover changed today when it went in for service, Service guy explained it to me exactly as you described. Last year it was just misting along the edge but this year it was actually leaking. They had one on the shelf and its a 2.9 hr job. You could see the coolant weeping along the edge on mine. He said they have done quite a few now on DB11's

£600 for a washer bottle cheap, when my car went in for a service last week the AM dealer was selling Aston Martin puddle lights for £1,850 a pair plus fitting.
Mine were £20 when they were available on PH.
1,850, that's incredible! Ebay is full of these puddle lights, average about $60 per pair. I did my own install on my DB11 about a year ago. Mine were £20 when they were available on PH.
It took more time to open the package than it did to install the lights. They are plug/play using the same mounting and electrical connections as the factory ones. They are very bright, even show up well in the daylight.
Yes had the same issue with our old 2020 Vantage too. Seems the same hardware as DB11s.
Imo its a design issue. Different materials react different under temperature raising levels. The cover is plastic, the body is aluminum. Gasket are very high claimed.
I think all models are affectet further or later. Labor costs was 1700 swiss Francs.
I notice it only after i drove to a parking lot with 10% gradient. It drops under the rear Diffusor.
Hopefully they fixed this issue with our new 2025 Vantage Model.
