Hello all,
I am bravely putting my head above the parapet to say that the clud babble is very, very boring.
Lets face it. The D70 is a bottom rung dslr thats only triumph was that it was better than the 300d canon, and is hardly worth its own sticky endowed fan club.
This dark side / clud diahorrea isn't even moderately amusing and never was. Time for those who are actually interested in photography to post their photos and hopefully get some constructive criticism, and inspector gadget to move along.
Feel free to have a go at me for speaking out of turn, but I know I speak for the bored, if silent, majority who think that the techno nonsense and inane verbal bimbling is making this a pretty boring place to hang out these days.

The only reason the 'Clud' evolved is (1) a bit of a laugh (2) because some Canon owners are so feckin smug and rabbit on about 100ISO. How many people own D70s? Exactly. Call them idiots and you call me an idiot too.
I grant you it gets a bit tedious, but put it down to an impish sense of humour.
As I said elsewhere only today, it's not the name on your camera that counts, it's what you do with it.
If there's a thread you don't like, be big enough to ignore it. Do I call your camera crap? Strangely, no.

problem is John the "clud" crap enters into so many threads that I/we can't ignore the whole thread.
In that light, whilst I appreciate it's a bit of fun, I have to agree with Matt here, the clud stuff can be a bit much sometimes. On the other hand, I don't want this forum to become a stale "look at this picture, wow, thats nice" type affair so have kept my trap shut.

LIGHTEN UP FFS . Are you saying banter between makes should be banned and only the Anal can post their pics? Just remember, this is a relaxed forum where people can share their pics no matter what camera they use. It's true Nikon owners are in the majority here - I have both a D70 & a D100 - yet some members of the Dark Sdie wish it was the other way round. Would you still make you statement if the Dark Sdie were the majority? We - THE CLUD - exchange banter with all and sundry and do not get arsey like some. Some people get upset when a pic or series of pics that they post are not swooned upon by all and sundry and are criticised. TOUGH. As I have said many many times on here, I don't give a damn who likes and who dislikes my pics. I like them and thats all that matters. Welcome to the Light Side - Where the FARCE is stronger.

OK, slag off the Clud thing if you like because you have a point - but it's neither big nor clever to tell people their cameras are rubbish. What does that achieve? Nothing, just angry bunnies.
Kit-wise you get what you pay for, simple as that. If I had £2700 going spare I'd get a D2X for the hell of it; if I was a pro sports geezer I'd have a top Canon. But I haven't and I'm not. Meantime, I'm happy to wring the pips out of the D70. It suits my needs and budget for now.
So - maybe we should concentrate on photos and tecchy stuff, not allegiance.

Don't make it personal John, I didn't mention any names, and didn't expect you to bring my photography into it, particularly as you are talking about sticking in cheap shots, which incidentally I didn't mean to do. I was just pointing out that I (like many) don't see what the fuss is about. As for dying by my own sword, I think that may be a little extreme.

Oh Dear,
I was just making the point that its getting a bit boring. Ironic that you should suggest I need to lighten up. The point is that the make and model of camera is irrelevant. Tis you who makes it an issue by consistently banging on about your clud. You, like simpo, seem to want to involve analysis of peoples photos in this, which i don't. As I said before, there is no need to make it personal. If you are suggesting I've put this up as a reaction to having some of my photos panned, it just makes it look like you don't have any rational way to justify your position.

Ok, maybe you have misunderstood my point. I had no intention of slagging off the camera, its not really about the kit at all. Its about a repetitive tired joke that serves no purpose and most people are bored of. I was merely pointing out that the D70 isn't, in my mind, worthy of having its own subsection on a public forum. To clarify, in a forum as wide in ability and budget as this one, I dont think any camera is.
I, like many, just wish it was about the pictures like it was 6 months ago.

I agree. Am I the only one who is fed up with being greeted by two Nikon stickies every time I look at these forums? What about a Canon, Minolta et all, owners club sticky. Or better still... none. The D70 FAQ sites seems superfluous as well. The D70 is a fine camera (getting a little long in the tooth now), but there are many other, equally fine, alternatives out there.
Wouldn't it be better to have a general photography FAQ pointing people to general reviews, tips & technique sites rather than @rselicking Nikon all the time?

I did not mention your photos, if I had meant you in particular I would have said so. You need to learn that I say what I think and blow the consequences. Although, I try not to be too harsh and destroy peoples perception of their efforts. Firm but fair thats me.
