I agree- a hero. 83 years old and a member of that party for many years yet gets treated with utter contempt (and physical abuse) for daring to raise an objection to the issue those socialists are so keen to keep quiet about. Yes, echoes of Stalanist Russia..

Just saw this on TV and was pondering posting a thread.

So the old boy states the obvious by shouting "Nonsense" at Jack Straw. Does the odious Mr Straw ever utter anything else but nonsense?

A couple of goons then move swiftly to lift an 82 year old clean out of his seat. So, quite reasonably, another bloke says "leave the old bloke alone". So another couple of goons move in to extract him too.

On realising it's been televised, the Spin Doctors start lying that Mr Wolfgang had been "warned three times". And what difference exactly does that make to the price of fish?

What an utter disgrace.

And that ugly fat fker stuffing his face with "nice cake" rather than be interviewed took the bisc..., well, cake actually.

When oh when are we, as a country, going to rise up and kick this shower of sh1t Government bouncing down the road? They were only voted in by a slim majority of a minority of the population.

What's coming over the world? The incoherent imbecile Bush in the States and the grinning twerp in the UK are nowhere near the best our respective nation's gene pools can muster.

He was held under the terrorism act... So now I presume people cannot heckle our MP's, or disagree with them even at their own conference. Its getting to the point that these conference are not actually conferences, but just another photo, and soundbyte opportunity.

It won't be long before you can't express these views in public.

As said earlier, SS-GB is in charge.

What with that, the 1-mile exclusion zone in London and the arrests of people in Tyneside before they even got to the conference they were going to protest outside...

You know, people say 'those tossers in the Government', but the real tossers are the sheep who helped get them elected. For the next general election, PLEASE can we have a proper party who really gives a sh!t about the people?

Slightly o/t but related. There is ANPR on every major road into Brighton. No Trafpol for licence evasion etc. Terrorist threa? I think not - bever heard of hire cars? My guess is that Big Brother is building a database of everyone who was anywhere near the conference. I wonder why?

'Power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely'
Lord Acton, a British historian.

How true this is. Keep down any form of debate by calling people Terrorists. I suspected this was going to happen. Soon even questioning them will be a criminal offence.
This is coming close to dictatorship, bending the rules of law to suit your own means.
BTW: How many police is he using? How many did Thatcher use after the Brighton bombings? EGO overload.

But what are your thoughts on the point raised Steve?

Outragious! It showed the hidden autocracy which exists within a party which claim to represent the views of "ordinary people". Politics is ALL about marketing. This little episode will be a PR nightmare for the Labour Party - paradoxicall, there will be a more discrete witch hunt for those responsible for chucking the guy out!

Who in their right mind would want to intentionally get anywhere near it? Its feckin chaos down there - have you seen the great big steel posts that they have sunk into the ground with steel beams/gates that they can open and close as they wish - you can bet your life that Blair and his cnuts dont have to sit it the traffic jams that their prescence is causing.

This just underlines what a bunch of cowards this Labour government are. Bliar is hopeless when the script is removed and he's confronted by the public, as he's demonstrated several times (hospitals, doctors appointments etc...) and the otheres are as bad. They are so scared that freedom of speech has been abolished, even for their own members.

Even Kinocchio could stand up to the hecklers. He had to shout down Hatton & co at a conference until they WALKED out. And I remember Maggie giving a speech at a Tory party conference when some very noisy hecklers had infiltrated at the back and started shouting. As security moved in she said something like "Leave them. It's only natural they should want to be here. It's always better where the Tories are". Which shut them up.

Proper public speakers can always see off the hecklers, John Major was brilliant at it.

Not the first time that New labour have been abrupt with people who dared to be anything other than "on message."

Anyway nothing has been said relating to the younger guy sitting two seats away from Mr Wolfgang, what happened to him? He was definitely wrestled out of his seat and the auditorium.

Just wondered....

The Divine right of Kings ended in a rather sharp and painful end for Charles I, I would rather like to think that the Divine right of Tony ended in similar fashion.

This sort of thing must not be allowed to continue, what we need is a 21st Century Oliver Cromwell to kick his lying backside out and restore a fully functioning democratic process because yesterdays events were not good viewing.

I have no love of ‘that’ party either but the very fact the old chap can sit there and heckle is integral to the democratic process, a process which must be upheld at all costs.

A sorry affair, but give the old boy his due I was very impressed with how a man of that age handled himself

Agree entirely, but I was impressed that TB came on the Today prog to say sorry. Not many PMs would do that. And perhaps he will tell his SS to loosen up a bit.

Answering my own question

The Thunderer said:

A second man, Steve Forrest, a constituency party chairman from south-east London, was also thrown out of the conference after complaining at Mr Wolfgang's treatment at the hands of stewards
