not at all.

Nowadays a lot of people don't find pleasure in watching people die/get mutilated/hurt and those that do are generally thought to be strange. I know for one that if the same had happened to me I'd be mighty pissed off - I have no desire what so ever to see someone be killed.

What is strange however is the change in society - go back not so many years (or into some USA states) and executions were/are public and watched by many people, nowadays it's completely frowned upon and people like myself can't stand it. Not sure if that's a good thing to happen or not (concept wise).

And, would you be saying the same if he were showing this footage of a British citizen being executedt to, say, a twelve year old?

I get the impression that he was relishing in this for shock/political value. You may not agree- but he is scum.. Justice done as far as I'm concerned.

It's difficult to make a judgment unless you know of all the evidence involved.

In the grand scheme of things burglars, thieves and all manner of scum get lesser sentences.

The bloke is a scumbag and deserves everything he gets. Downloading it onto his phone from the internet? Sick . There are some very very strange and disturbing people out there. It's like the 'Faces Of Death' video. Who the hell would want such a thing?

What the fook?

Anyone watched alot of the films today?

OK, it's not the same as it isn't real, but a young person might not know the difference, and parents of children who see say Land of the Dead at age 8 are not gonna be sent to jail for 60 days.
We expose ourselves as a society to this kind of thing, just fictional all the time. Zombies heads been blown off, people being eaten. Grim really and yet some people call this "pretend" violence entertainment, even though it could essentially be real!

I saw the first Iraqi victim video as a friend at work showed me it. I thought it was really clever how the mouth was moving around as the head was half cut off and how it looked so real, not actually knowing it was real!
When I realised 15 minutes later I did feel a bit sick, but watched it again still. The idea of that *actually* happening was infact an eye opener to the situation in Iraq at that time.
However, after thinking back just 500 years, that kind of thing with a sword or axe was probably quite a common sight on the battlefields or at executions...

However, I didn't get my colleague sent to jail for 60 days. I didn't have to watch, I could have shut my eyes, walked away at any time.
Clearly the offended person watched it, then decided to be all crazy about it afterwards when it was too bloody late to empty her brain of it.

Why oh why is the world getting everything so backwards?

This is akin to banning Grand Theft Auto for the addon sex scene, even though the rest of the game entails about 50 illegal activities including shooting police, running people over, drugs, etc, yet the mutually concenting sex scene *addon* means the original game should be banned?! By that measure, the original game should never have been released it's that morally wrong.

Bloody whingers in this country. A good war/famine/disease would soon put people's views into perspective! Should think themselves lucky...

In fact in hindsight, maybe this footage should be shown on the news, show people exactly what sort of enemy we're fighting out there....might shut up a few of the 'stop the war' crowd....

By the sounds of it a 'Breach of the Peace'. The laws are quite different up in Jockland, if it had been in England it would probably have been a Public Order Act offence, something like 'Causing Alarm and Distress' etc...unless someone can give us more info?

Strikes me that today very few people have had any personal experience of violent death. Both my Grandfathers and my father have seen combat (WWII, Korea and Suez), have witnessed and done things that I hope i never need to do.

Are we getting more and more divorced from the reality of the harsh world in which we live? Are we being steadily brain washed by the hand wringers into thinking that the world is a fluffy bunny place full of love and compassion?

Even so I still think you have to be a sick for deriving pleasure from murder..... 60 days, about right I'd say.

As a couple of others have pointed out, it is a matter of choice.

If you CHOOSE to watch these videos then I daresay they're only a google away. The girl didn't choose - she could, at least, have looked away,

This idiot was guilty of being a thoughtless tt - but that doesn't carry a criminal sentence.

The type of idiots that derive kicks from 'happy slapping' videos are only a step away from this clown.

And, would you be saying the same if he were showing this footage of a British citizen being executed

I think you will probably find that it was a Brit being executed!
The British hostage (whose name momentarily slips my mind) that was beheaded has been doing the rounds on mobiles for ages.
I've seen it but no I haven't got it on my phone!

But he didn't did he? He showed it to an adult who when told she would see something that would shock her said "aye, right". I don't doubt she wasn't expecting to see what she did, but she could have looked away.

Do you think he'd have got 60 days if his name was John Smith?

This just shows how much worse the Scottish legal system is to that in England (bloody sherrifs courts!)
The individual has the right to view this kind of stuff if he/she wants to, but downloading it onto a phone and showing it to another???? slightly bizarre.
Fair enough if he had his wrist slapped or a fine....but jail?? Ridiculous.
There are so many web sites and videos available showing this kind of stuff because so many people worldwide want to see it. It is supply and demand.
If no-one wanted to see it they would all disappear!
Somebody mentioned Faces of Death....do they now realise that it is available in your local HMV or Virgin?? Why, because the censors passed it and because people want to buy it.
Its not my scene, but it obviously appeals to many.

He's lucky that he wasn't arrested without charge and held for 3 months, had all of his assets confiscated as the proceeds of crime/terrorism and deported under Blairs new anti-terror laws. There is a war on you know.

The rules have changed and it is now necessary that we give up our freedom in order for the government to protect our freedom.
