I'm in Australia, so the units might be totally irrelevant. biggrin

I'm getting around 10.7L/100km on average and around 12-13L around town. Is this normal?

Not a big deal, but it's slightly thirstier than I'd thought.

Other similar VAG cars I've had for comparison:
MK7 R (stage 1 tuned) - 8.8L/100km
MK3.5 Octavia vRS estate (stage 1 tuned) - 8L/100km
MK6 GTI (stage 2 tuned) - 8.4L/100km
MK5 GTI (stock) - 8.5L/100km

Another question - is a stage 1 remap worth it? The raw numbers don't indicate a massive jump like for the newer MQB cars, but if it's more drivable, then I reckon I would do it. It's a bit laggy off the line at lower rpms, but if I floor it, it's very punchy and is definitely not slow.

Cant answer the fuel consumption question sorry but a reputable Remap is always worth it in my opinion, your car history suggests you think the same too.
Having experienced a few cars before and after I personally think its a no brainer for the money but just consider what you will do come resale time as a lot will frown upon it.

I've calculated that "I'm getting around 10.7L/100km on average and around 12-13L around town." Is 26mpg average and 22mpg around town, which is about right.

Seems Stage 1 will get you to 310-320 BHP or 230kw, but some will be getting on for 20 years old now? I'd want to make sure a) it's not already Stage 1 as in the UK at least, most would be by now b) it's not going to st itself with a sudden uplift in power.
