Jag Type 00 walks the walk at Paris Fashion Week

Repainted Ultramarine and with Barry Keoghan at the wheels, the big Jag gets attention wherever it goes

Forgotten about the Jaguar Type 00? Nope, thought not - it was probably the most widely discussed concept car of 2024. To put it politely. Everyone, whether they were involved with the automotive industry or not - whether they even cared about cars or not - had something to say about the brave new vision for Jaguar’s future.

Now it’s 2025, and with the real thing still on track to be shown this year (with prototypes testing to support that claim), Jaguar is continuing on the campaign trail with the concept. This being the Copy Nothing Jag era, too, it isn’t on the usual path for a concept car to follow. Following on from Miami Art Fair in December, the Type 00 has now been seen at Paris Fashion Week. In case there was any doubt about who the new car is aimed at. We’d all love to be cool enough, surely.

The big news for this sighting of the car (besides actor Barry Keoghan getting out of it) is a new Ultramarine paint finish. Which, as is so often the case with big Jags and blue (think XJR, even F-Pace), suits the 00 down to the ground. To these eyes, at least. And check out the sliding boot for Keoghan’s jacket - that’s neat. Though there’s nothing else to tell from this teaser, really, Jaguar presumably now confident if nothing else that any exposure of this car will generate some engagement. Only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about, right?

Say what you will about it, but it's difficult to deny that if the production version looks close to that, even if only proportionally, it's going to have serious road presence.

You know that everyone of a certain demographic wants to arrive in one of these...wait til you see the black on black ones....there will be an order book and it will be fully of the rich celebrity/sports...I just hope Jaguar is as brave as it promises and doesnt let us all down by going soft on the production model.

That slightly weird looking bloke who was in that film about drinking spunk from a bath. All the ladies love him apparently

Do eBay do brushed silver Leapers? Not sure a gold’n’chrome one is going to work with the matt paint.

Sort of reminding me a bit of the opening titles of the Pink Panther show.

I am expecting it will change markedly for production, I don’t hate it but it’s a bit too out there to imagine it will end up looking quite like that, needs a bit of reality to make it look plausible.

I like massive odd looking Jags and pick up an XJ on Friday but this is a bit too odd just yet, toned down a bit I think it could be quite desirable.

Cutting edge? Looks like it escaped from the set of Gerry Anderson's "UFO" - and think how long ago that was!

It doesn’t look real. Are we sure it hasn’t been photoshopped in to those pictures?

Wasn't the Defender a massive sales hit? I'm not quite so sure this will be.

Having said that, and just hold on a sec while I put on my flame suit, I kind of love it. It's so OTT that it'll be a real event car in an ocean of boring SUV if, and it's a big if, it really looks like that of course.

I think it looks brilliant.
