Key Not Working

I posted this in some Audi forums and got nothing. Crickets.

I recently found a key for my 2011 A3 in the depths of my sofa that I lost a few years ago.

I went to use it the other morning; the remote locking worked, the car started but died after a few seconds with an EPC engine warning light.

After a few minute's panic I tried a different key and it was fine.

I presume that it was some sort of immobiliser error.

Any advice?

I did have a new key made while the key was lost so I now have three keys - I don't know if that is relevant.

The "lost" key is no longer in the immobiliser, will have been deleted when the new one was coded.

If you want it to work again will need re-coding with all 3 keys present.

Thanks. I'll put it away and get it re-coded if I ever lose another key.
