Just cancelled Sky - didn't offer me anything
Discussion
Spoke to them on the phone, I'd only been with them 5 months and they were trying to increase my broadband and tv prices by 20% I think -
All cancelled, I'm not unhappy as they suckered me into Netflix which I didn't want anyway. Bit strange they didn't want to keep me, times may have changed.

5 months is that a typo? If not then I can see why they might not have bothered.
We will be cancelled next week, as we have been a customer for over 20 years will be interesting to see if they try and retain us.
They always do for long term customers, luck of the draw, think you are more likely to get a better deal if you are speaking to someone in this country, not sure Indian call centres are so willing to offer cheaper pricesWe will be cancelled next week, as we have been a customer for over 20 years will be interesting to see if they try and retain us.
I've been with Sky as a TV customer for over 20yrs, no complaints.
I foolishly swapped my broadband to them from BT, the service to the router is fine, but its wifi is absolute s
te, even with extenders. I've been counting down the days to junk it for months.
My contract is up for renewal, they told me by email "as a valued customer" that it was increasing from £28.50/month to £46/month.
I immediately signed up with EE (which is basically rebranded BT) for £35.99/month with 3 months free.
EE handle the cutover and about 20 seconds after confirming I got a "sorry you are leaving, how about £27.00 a month" email from Sky.
I hate all this charade. If I'm a valued customer just offer me £27/month in the first place!

Don't hold your breath on that.......I was with them since the 90's but it didn't seem to make any difference when I cancelled last year. I would have thought they would want to keep loyal customers but I didn't get that impression. We will be cancelled next week, as we have been a customer for over 20 years will be interesting to see if they try and retain us.

You know you can use your owner router, right? All the ones that you get free from the broadband providers are cheap junk. Just buy a decent one from ASUS or similar and it will last you for years, regardless of who your internet provider is.I foolishly swapped my broadband to them from BT, the service to the router is fine, but its wifi is absolute s

Small update, riveting story I know -
After accepting my cancellation on the phone five days ago, they have now sent me an email offering my original package (£35) at half price (£17.50) for 12 months (12 months is a bit meaningless as they were trying to put my price up by 20% after 5 months of a 24 month contract last week....)
Looks like I can't just click on the offer, I have to ring them back to confirm.....
So either they will try and sell me something else I don't want, or their attempted 20% price rise has cost them 50%.
Seems a bonkers way to do business. Even if I go with the deal they are just aggravating me.

Same here. Bill was going up to £123 a month, TV only full package. They offered to reduce to £95 which was still a bit rich so I cancelled. Haven't heard from them since, we were with them over 20 years Cancelled mine about six weeks ago-would hardly budge on my renewal price—it was going up to 130 a month, they offered me two quid a month off, and it would have gone up about 8 quid in April!!
As much as I didn’t want to, I went to virgin, much faster broadband, £75 per month.
Now sky keep messaging me offering me various deals
I was with sky for 20 odd years-they can f
k right off.
When my virgin contract is up, I’ll be going with EE, have a basic tv package and just get another firestick for upstairs

I’m just off the phone to sky after my monthly bill went from £77 to £91. After some initial shenanigans with an Indian call centre person who really didn’t get what my issue was, I got the number of the supposed UK call centre (the assistant sounded Canadian but of course still could be in the UK). He couldn’t have been more helpful and my bill is now down to £63 inclusive of the upcoming April increase. Very happy with that outcome.

Interesting. What number was that if you don't mind me asking? Our bill is to increase to near £100, which means we'll be dropping Sky asap if we can't get it down by quite a bit. I'd prefer not to lose Sky though, unless I can find a good alternative [no Virgin TV in our area]. I need to figure out what we watch the most...for me, all the Discovery car shows. Kids love have access to all the kids stuff, though we do have Netflix and Disney too. I'm not paying £100 a month that's for sure!BUG4LIFE said:

The only reason I persevered with Sky was because Virgin don’t seem to want to supply our house (one of 3 at the end of a road that DOES have Virgin coverage). You need to call 0333 759 1018 and go through the infuriating menu system….. keep saying “speak to human” and eventually they give up and you get to speak with Customer Services. Good luck!
