Filtering on a 1300 pan euro?
Discussion
Removed a lot of the racking from my garage now, so 2 bikes might be better than one.
Mulling over options and for me i think the perfect blend might be a 1300 pan, and a cr500 or a souped up 450
How are the pan europeans for filtering?
My ktm 1190 adventure is already quite wide at the handlebars and engine bars so I am guessing the pan might not be too much worse for getting around city centres but being better at touring.

It's like all things, good at anything depends entirely on your definition of good.
It's big, long and heavy and, if you leave the luggage on, wide at both the front and the back. None of that is good for filtering. It will never match a naked 500 - 650 twin with regards the the gaps it can get through safely but that 500 - 650 won't be able to get through the gaps a small scooter will manage, so it's horses for courses.
It will be faster through the traffic than a car but it will definitely have the potential to become a roadblock for others who can get through quicker still.
The big question for me would be the height of the mirrors vs. the height of mirrors on most cars. Ideally the bike mirrors want to be above the car mirrors but below the van/truck mirrors. This is especially true for fairing mounted mirrors as it's much harder to thread them between lines of cars.

I can imagine the ST1300 is similar to the ST1100 and I've had a couple of those. Superb bikes, all days comfy, surprisingly agile with the low centre of gravity and a doddle to filter, just watch the mirrors, which is why the covers are often cable tied on! Not as agile as a 500 but that wasn't your question, cheers!
