If it's one of the pictures regularly floating around social media, then it's likely to be one of the signs in a car park for a small area where you're specifically NOT meant to be parking. I.e. the small area by the payment meter or an access footpath.

It'll be a bullsh|t photoshop. Not a real sign. The OP hasn't taken the photo.

Yup it's the access road to the car park.

So basically it was a deliberate misreading of the sign to try to make it look more stupid than it actually is, and the no parking/£100 fine would apply to the five vehicles highlighted below:

Presumably there are several signs with this wording along the access road and maybe some road markings to show the extent of where you cannot park ? Just one lonely sign could be open to a challenge smile

Double yellows was all it needed.

Whoever designed the sign didn't think it through. But it was probably 4pm and they wanted to get home.

it looks like it's private land. if that is correct, it's a sign that doesn't offer a contract to the driver in any way, shape or form. for that reason there could not be a 'breach of contract' which is the basis of court claims resulting from these situations and for that reason I'd say any claim for the specified sum on the sign is unenforceable.

I thought the same, that the next set of signs would make sense.

Looking at the satellite shot, it’s clear why they are excluding the access road, and equal as sad to see that some posters are already looking for loopholes to park there, when they can understand the need as much as the rest of us.

Just googled it. And apparently most commenters understand it relates to the entrance roadway.

A sign should be clear to everyone, not just 'most'.

Yes, you are correct. Some people will always find something to moan about.
