Trusting Investment Organisations.

Afternoon everyone. I'm looking to put some money in a Bond or 2 soon and after Googling "best 1 year Bonds" the usual sites come up, moneyexpert, Martin Lewis etc. They all seem pretty good but 4 out of 5 places to invest I'm never heard of! They're all FSCS protected and I'm wondering if this should be enough to trust putting my money with?

Even during the credit crunch I do not believe anyone lost any money other than shares they held in companies such as northern rock, nothing on deposit.
