Engine out for turbo change?

Just a quick couple of questions and wondered if you guys can help please?

I’ve got a 3.0d 2016 XJ and it’s need of a new secondary turbo and I’ve had two garages tell me different things.

Does the engine need to come out for the turbo to be replaced?

Also, just wondering if anyone had a ball park figure for the cost? The warranty company are covering most (if not all) of the cost, but just wondered what the damage will be overall?
