Received two car finance settlements that I didn't request!

Hi guys,

I've received in the post this morning two finance settlement requests from Porsche relating to my agreement. One from Audi Harrogate and one from Lamborghini London.

I didn't request either!

Just a glitch in the system, or should I be worried?

Do you have two such finance agreements?

If not phone them up and tell them so.

I have one finance agreement with Porsche, but have received a settlement figure requested from two different dealers. I have called Porsche finance and they have said just ignore it!

I meant call the dealers.

They said ignore it because if you look too closely you might discover they have given our your financial information to 3rd parties without your consent.
Ask them to confirm in writing that settlement figure wasn't given out over the phone.

You need to get to the bottom of that.

Has someone else taken out an agreement on your car?

Was there a previous agreement on your car before you bought it?

Is there a private number plate involved that's flagging up old agreements?

If something's amiss, call the FCA for advice.

I called the dealers who have supposedly requested the settlement figure, but they can only help on Monday when the big boys are back

I would suspect someone put your reg into car buying website like motorway as they wanted to know what it is worth, and the dealers were snooping to find out how much you owed

Seems very odd, a settlement figure would be obtained for part ex purposes but if you've not had contact with them then I would drop them a line and ask what the purpose was/is.

Would they not need my finance agreement reference number to do that though?

They come up in a standard history check

Don't dealers need the policy holders permission to get a settlement figure these days?

Yes, but clearly they are bending the rules.
That's why I suggested getting it in writing that they didn't give it out to the dealer, which they probably did and would be grounds for a complaint.
