Got a leaflet in work from Staples, the office gear seller.

They are doing a Thinkpad R50e for 339 excl Vat, it has wireless, a dvd writer, 40gb HDD and comes with XP.

It will be a business buying it so the VAT will be reclaimed, but are there any better deals to be had or is this pretty good? I will use it for photoshopping, basic CAD, and netsurfing / music at home, hence the req`d wireless.

Cheers!

Depends on memory and processor speeds but for less than 500 quid sounds pretty good

Slow? Dont want slow. ! They are doing a 1.5ghz vaio with 512mb ram and wifi/dvdrw with the xblack screen and a BT Wireless router for 594 ex vat. Maybe a better buy? or is it not 250quids worth extra?

I would steer well away from Celerons, they are noticably slower than P4's, although I think the Celeron D is better now.
