Val Kilmer dead

Always thought he was a a pretty good actor, too many people my age now pushing up the daisies.

Sad to see this; an interesting and complex character by all accounts, certainly added something to any number of iconic films. Liked that he had a social and environmental conscience…

He certainly had a magnetism to him - very watchable... I liked him in Billy The Kid. He was good pals with Tom Cruise and I liked the stories of Cruise getting Kilmer back into movies.

I thought he was excellent in Heat, even better in Tombstone. Both not his biggest roles, however left a huge impression.

As a kid into science, I really liked Real Genius.

Realise he went on to do bigger and better things, but liked him ever since that one.

Feels weird, like I’ve already mourned him after watching TG:M. Just me?

I think I'm going to watch Top Secret tonight. He was brilliant in Heat and Tombstone which I think might have been his greatest role.

Same, I loved that film.

Also an incredible performance playing Jim Morrison, even did his own singing.

Heat was his finest hour IMO. Great film and he was excellent in it.

He was absolutely outstanding in Tombstone, one of the most memorable portrayals I've seen.

He'll perhaps be most famous for Top Gun, but to me his finest work was Heat, Tombstone and, mostly, The Doors. He was outstanding as Jim Morrison.

He was good in most things he did. I even liked his Batman and The Saint

when I was a little kid there was this film occasionally on TV - Real Genius - and ever since I wanted to be Val Kilmer.

Then Top Secret - hilarious spoof of a spy film

And then he hit it big with Top Gun.

He played some of the best roles ever, including Batman.

I'll dedicate my weekend film time to him.

The audience reaction to him appearing in Top Gun Maverick probably encapsulates the man's incredible versatility. The moment he's revealed on screen there were gasps of joy around the screen I was sat in (myself included). You could then hear the quiet sobs creep In as the scene progressed with Kilmer delivering the entire scene almost without words. Such a beautiful moment that Cruise insisted on being in the film.

Brilliant in everything he was in. He leaves behind quite the legacy.

Hearing he had throat cancer brings a whole new meaning to that performance
