"Crazy Flying" has been a feature at airshows for a long time. It usually consists of a lot of "cross control" flying.

I've seen footage of Avro 504s cavorting at Hendon in the 1930s.

Another permutation on the theme is the "stolen aeroplane" routine where an apparently crazy person runs out of the crowd and steals an aircraft that is sitting with its engine idling.
