Today's Senior Moment
Discussion
Usually I wake up before Mrs C, totter downstairs, make myself a cup of tea and sit in front of the television to watch the news. This morning, I carried my cup of tea into the lounge to discover a nice hot of tea waiting for me. With Mrs C still sparko, it must have been me. I have no recollection at all of making the first cuppa. Making the second one I wondered where all the blue mugs had gone even though I had used the last clean one not five minutes earlier.
This means I am at the stage of being able to function correctly but not always able to retain a memory of doing so.
Ah, the joys of getting old.

I'm only 58 but the double-cuppa has been occasional factor on my life for some time.
One recent addition was me going to put a slice of bread in the toaster only to be somewhat surprised at the toaster popping up a toasted slice I'd put in a moment earlier.
I was stood waiting for the toaster to pop up the other morning, when I eventually realised I hadn't put any bread in it. I haven't done the double cuppa, but I have made a cuppa and forgot about it until it has gone cold, which is gutting. My top senior moment was losing my phone while camping and then using the torch on said phone to find the phone that was in my hand. In a similar vein to the OP, I went downstairs this morning, as I do every morning, to make my coffee and wife’s tea. I got half way through making hers before I remembered she’s away. It’s not even the first day - she’s been away three days.
I’ve always had such memory problems though - doing DIY is a nightmare as I’m constantly searching for where I’ve put things down. And it’s a family joke that asking me to remember something is completely pointless.

What an uplifting thread, thanks DickyC.
I'm older than all of you (well, apart from DickyC but he's actually ancient) and have never done any of the senile stuff you guys are going on about.
What a happy day this is.

Marvellous.

Is there a badge? A plaque, perhaps?

I’m almost 60 and recently replaced my broken binoculars with an identical new pair. Guess which pair I threw in the bin?
I filled out and signed some important documents a few weeks ago. I took them to the Post Office, whilst walking towards the PO I noticed a newly installed bin where I thought the post box had been. “That’s odd” I thought, they have taken away the box and replaced it with a bin. I walked up to the bin with the same thought in my mind and posted my letter, straight in the bin! The post box is just tucked around the corner, where it has always been
Luckily I still had enough presence of mind to scan the documents first. I’m 56

Get yourself a kettle from Tesco, milk, cups, tea bags, put at the side of the bed and then you and Mrs C can have a cup of tea in bed. This means I am at the stage of being able to function correctly but not always able to retain a memory of doing so.

My senior moment is that I keep thinking today is Saturday.

I had a panic a while ago riding a rental Donkey Republic bike through Copenhagen when I suddenly realised my phone wasn't in the pocket I always put it in. Frantically patting down all my other pockets and thinking we'll have to go back to the park we'd just been in and see if I'd dropped it when unlocking the bikes....when I realised it was strapped to the phone mount on the bike and I was using it for navigation
I was about 49 at the time
After buying a round of drinks at the bar, i suddenly realized i had left my sunglasses at the bar. Couldn't see them and it had only been seconds so i asked the same barmaid if anyone had handed in a pair of sunglasses. She replied "would they be the ones tucked into the top of your tee-shirt sir?". Oops.

Unfortunately it's likely to be an atherosclerotic one clinging to an artery somewhere!Marvellous.

Besides, the plaque’s probably on his dentures.
