Lotus is to shed upto 270 jobs:

https://www.edp24.co.uk/news/25081603.norfolk-firm...

Mind you, this is just 'normal' Lotus: Take-on staff, lay-off staff, take-on staff, lay-off staff....

net zero will decimate industry in the UK, and Europe.

Is...decimating.

This current Lotus situation has got nothing to do with 'net zero'. Emiras need more buyers - simple.

Within the current redundancies is a huge chunk of internal politics and the "old guard" seeking retribution over anything associated with Lotus Europe.

I understand that the Service support teams, who look after dealers and customers has been slashed to 4 people.

Dealers will walk away.

RIP Lotus, killed by egos and spite.

Very few details so far but that's got to be most of the Hethel workforce

Didn't they have a big round of redundancies a year or two ago?

100 or so in 23 then 30 ish last year.

Google states about 1300 employed at Hethel so 550 really is a big chunk

Ugh. So sad. Many of us have been following the saga over the last five/fifty years and it’s been such a difficult watch for the bulk of it. Five or so years ago there was an brief period of hope but here we are.

Just seen on our local news that Lotus are shedding another 550 jobs yikes

That is really bad news for the local economy and the future of Hethel

It’s actually their best chance of long term survival. It has been a st-show in Hethel for as long as I can remember. I used to work with George Howard-Chappell in the late 90s after he came from there in one of their many previous disasters. I remember he had an Esprit company car and it was a complete POS. We used to take the piss out of it, only half-jokingly!

A big problem for Lotus has always been being based in Hethel. Who the feck wants to live out there?! It makes zero sense.
