Want to buy a really good quality stainless BBQ for the summer that will last a good few years. Have had a succession of cheap b and a specials, then an outback (which was ok but didn't last that well)

It seems to be a bit of a minefield, im far from convinced that the premium price for something like a webber can be justified.

What makes and features should I look out for? What's the best price point?

I’ve been looking at a stainless steel one to. I bought a cheapo one last year , it’s now covered in surface rust as the paint has all gone after two seasons. It still works ok but is an eyesore.

I’ve been looking at this one.

Our Webber has stood out in the garden - uncovered - for nearly fifteen years and looks about 6 months old. No rust, no corrosion, thermometer still works fine.

One of the best value-for-money things I have ever bought.

Weber is definitely the way to go.

The cover for our Weber Q series blew away during a storm, never to be seen again, and I didn't replace it. It is still looking great after 2 years in the garden uncovered.

I have one of these, pricey but brilliant, lined with bricks for good heat insulation. Price normally includes grill, skewers & electric motor. Mine is 19 years old & looks new.

My Weber experience is very similar to previous posters.

You won’t beat a 57 Kettle for the money IMO.

Another vote for a Weber 57 kettle…

Mine lives in semi covered space with a cover and is absolutely fine

You've not stated if you want gas or charcoal.

If you're after an investment BBQ then get a Ceramic BBQ. I dithered for 15 years before I bought mine - what a waste of 15 years BBQing. It's by far and away the best BBQ I've ever had.

If you want a gas BBQ then get a Weber. Mine has sat outside uncovered for 20+ years and it still works flawlessly. I have had to replace the "flavorizer bars" but they're not that expensive. As for features, there are loads but as I also have my Ceramic BBQ for things like smoking, the only one I would consider would be a separate gas ring to heat up things like BBQ sauce or beans. You could get one with a rotisserie attachment, but if it's a gas BBQ you'll have problems with too much air getting in and will have problems with flare ups if you do direct rotisserie cooking - which is the only way in my opinion.

We were in John Lewis a couple of years ago and it was the end of season sale. They had a few Weber BBQs with quite a big chunk of money off. Whilst they were nicer than my 18+ year old example, I didn't feel any compelling need to replace mine.

Agree with the above. A Weber Mastertouch for everyday. Investment Purchase Ceramic- just bought a Kamado Joe and it’s changed everything and if Gas I have a Weber Spirit which is 7 years old and excellent

Sorry should have said gas

I've already got two smokers, but want something very quick that can just sit outside and be turned on quickly and cleanly.

I will replace one of the smokers with a kamado (or even a green egg if I can afford it....}

I’ve got one of these and think it’s excellent. I’ve got a Weber Spirit too at another house and this is pretty much as good.

Any of the big brand bbq’s will be fine.
You get what you pay for though!

Weber is cheap compared to the camado’s or Napoleon’s though.
I’ve had my Weber for 7 years. The only rust is where it got damaged by a storm sending it flying.
It’s not round anymore biggrin
