Morning all...

Have Airbnb guests arriving shortly asking whether restaurants will be open in Edinburgh on Good Friday?

Probably the posher restaurants. Until they arrive I'm unsure which restaurants to contact to check but what would be the general consensus from the local PHers?

There will be plenty of recommendations from others, but the one I always enjoy is Piggs - it’s a tapas place on the royal mile. It’s tiny, but we enjoy this sort of thing. Looks like they are taking bookings for Friday.

Everything will ve open in Edinburgh.
You may struggle to get a booking at The Dome, Hawksmoor or the Ivy but there is plenty of choice else where
What cuisine are you after?

Id try Contini on George Street for really good quality food. We have known the owners for years and they really take pride in their menu!

The pub Cafe Royal is pretty touristy but is a brilliant fine drinking pub to end a fine dining evening.

I wouldn’t even have considered any restaurant in edinburgh closing for good friday, as others mentioned they might be too late for a booking, but would t expect anywhere closed!

but some recommendations for nice places:

- the outsider (old town/ george iv bridge area)
- under the table (dundas street/ new town)
- little capo (howe street/ new town)

and although I’m not usually into chains/ big hotels….. booking a table for drinks at the bar at the top of the new W hotel (st james centre) is pretty good. you can go outside on top of the ‘golden turd’ and get 360deg views across edinburgh!

Why would restaurants be closed? Edinburgh is heaving right now with Easter break tourists. Everything is open.

If anyone else is reading this thread, this is a great restaurant. My wife works in the Edinburgh restaurant trade and she knows the owner and took her brother and mum there last week and said it was fantastic.

I’ve not actually eaten there myself (yet) but I have eaten at their restaurant upstairs called ‘the table’ (10 seat table- served a tasting menu where you see/ watch the chefs cook/ plate up) and its hands down the best food/ meal i’ve ever had! if she liked the food at ‘under the table’ she’ll love the main event upstairs!
