Evening!

We have a horrible infestation of leather jackets in our turf (new build home, I wish I’d known last September!).

I’m dying to give them a double blast of Nemasys, but is the soil temperature warm enough?

Available data suggests that it is, but I’m not so sure.

Can anyone advise, should I go for it tonight in the rain?

I’ve just done the same, double dose and then I’ll attack them again in 2 weeks time. It’s so cheap that it’s worth giving it a go and if it doesn’t work, try again.

Problem is if you’ve got neighbours who aren’t treating their lawns, the buggers will just come through from next door. I spent a couple of years trying to get rid of them, and gave up.

I don’t know why they’re so common in new build turf, but mine was absolutely riddled with them. Remember digging out the back border, and every spadeful would have at least 1 or 2.

Happily after the lawn matured they seem to have settled down and do less damage.

The shocking thing is seeing them all over the patio on a wet night - they’ve given me nightmares!

I’m physically removing as many as I can too …..

On the FB lawn page I'm on they swear by a product called predator turf. On eBay from the US but is meant to be excellent. May be worth a look
