I booked online at f1autocentres.co.uk for 2 front tyres for my 2006 V8 Vantage.

Got a phone call from them the following day saying that they cannot fit the tyres because they "don't have the specs for the Aston on their system" WTF?

I'm assuming he means wheel bolt torque specs, recommended tyre pressures, or jacking points maybe?
I wish I asked him to elaborate now but I took the call whilst at work so the call was rushed and was frankly flabbergasted by what he said.

However, he did go on to say that it was against company policy to work on cars that they don't have the specs or data for... but if I were to remove the wheels myself and bring them in loose, then they will happily fit the tyres that I have booked.

Has any fellow Aston owners ever come across this before?

I would never take my V8V to anywhere that I wasn't absolutely confident knew what they were doing. In my case that means either MD or BR. In the end I went with BR and I just sourced the tyres from Camskill and had them delivered.

I would like to know too as we can start helping with some recommendations.

I too wouldn’t use F1 autocentres for my DB9 (or any of my cars). Have a local indie that I know for years and trust, they do my MOTs too.

When choosing who to put new tyres on my former Vantage, it came down to two companies, both indies but both have great experience with jacking points on Astons.

I ended up going with Sandhurst Tyres but could have also gone to Road Wheel & Tyre in Fleet.

I'm in East Yorkshire guys.
I wish I had somewhere like Bamford Rose on my doorstep but sadly there's no replicable independents in this area that i know of.

I'm the same as LTP, I got Michelin PS4S tyres from camskill and took the wheels & tyres to my local ATS to fit them, cheapest option too.

It doesn’t need to be an Aston specialist for tyres, not even an exotic specialist. Some general advice is look for an independent that has low staff turnover (when asking for recommendations), it’s usually a good indicator that staff aren’t under pressure to work fast and cut corners.

Likewise I bought a full set of Michelin PS4S from Camskill.

I had them delivered to AM Leeds who fitted and balanced them for me for a really nominal fee per corner.

Any recommendations for Hertfordshire / north London?

It's about time to get the P Zeros off the V12 Vantage S and switch to Pilot Sport 4S all round.

Camskills + Aston Hatfield could be an option...any other thoughts?

Years ago, there was a post on here about a Vantage that was jacked up carelessly by a tyre fitter.
Think it happened in the USA.
Once those long beams are bent, that seems to result in them being unrepairable.
The car was written off.

Is this the post you’re referring to?

Thanks to everyone for their responses.

In light of some of the aforementioned horror stories I'm kinda glad now that F1autocentres did phone me and express their concerns about not having the specs etc.

I'm glad they didn't just take my money and shove the trolley jack anywhere under there, throwing caution to the wind.

My initial thoughts were of incompetency but now I've had time to digest the situation I'm now starting to think that they actually care, and did exactly the correct thing by calling me.

Ditto as Adam; just did this last month. One AM dealer would not do the tyre swap as the Michelins were not "OEM recommended" (Pirelli's only), but other MD's were more flexible, with fitting costs ranging from just under one hours labour charge to well above this. Camskill excellent as always.

If it’s tyres I use Acorn Tyres in Stoke Mandeville. The boss had a few Astons in the past.

Chiltern Aston is a good place for servicing, but wouldn’t install my SC7. They will do PS4s though or an OE tyre.

Also have you visited Nicholas Mee? Only heard about them, need to get down to a 10-2 meet but next one is the same day as Aston Hill Climb.
