New TVR Owner

Hello all from sunny North Norfolk.

I have just purchased a 98 TVR Chimaera which I should be collecting in about 4 weeks time. No doubt I will need some help and advice as I start to get to know the car and hopefully you guys will be happy to advise. Just a heads up I do own a Jaguar XJS Convertible V12 which I have done plenty of work on so do know my way round and engine fairly well. I have owned plenty of P38 Range Rovers in the past all with the 4.6 Rover V8 so again know these engines fairy well. Now looking forward to finding my way round the Chim.

I've had my 1998 Chimaera 450 for 19 years. I've driven all over Europe several times and made some good friends both here and on the continent. I've found the TVR Car Club to be a great organisation with some excellent people and a good monthly magazine. My car has never broken down and I plan to keep it for the rest of my driving days.

These are great cars I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.

TVR Car Club is great and will lead to lots of new friends, and most with a lot of knowledge and a few of us with very little knowledge but can talk a good game.

If you can find you way around a V12 Jag lump, the TVR Engine will be like a Ford Pinto to you !

Your car history has a lot of overlap with mine, you'll be fine with maintaining a TVR.

I bought my Griffith 500 in December and have been loving the experience.

The V12 is a big old lump but it’s not to bad once you get through all the stuff on top. Just replaced all the fuel injection hoses and while there replaced the injection loom and had the cam covers powder coated.

Since I first saw them in the 90s, that was always my favourite colour on a Chim, until I bought a dark blue one
