I have a 2020 600LT, occasionally it will bring up an error on the display saying “Transmission fault” and “Go to McLaren service centre”.

When this appears, it defaults into automatic mode (I always have it in manual and use the paddles).

If I stop and leave it switched off for 10 minutes or so, it will clear and everything goes back to normal.

But this happens pretty regularly and can spoil a spirited drive.

Has anyone seen this before and found a likely culprit?

I imagine there is a simple cause and fix but finding it is less simple

If it was my car, it would go to Thorney who would give you a precise answer to your question without any waffle

I had a similar issue and it was the switch behind the paddles that activates changing gear had failed. Automatic mode was fined and the warning would go out after the car was turned off for a while. Unfortunately if you go to a Mclaren service centre the only solution they are allowed to offer is to replace the entire steering wheel and that's what I had to do. I think V Engineering are able to just replace the failed part. Wish I knew about them beforehand.

So is this issue covered under the McLaren dealer warranty ?

Thanks for the info morcheenie. I have McLaren warranty. It is due for renewal soon so I will mention this when I take the car in to the MD for its inspection.
I’ve had a few things repaired under warranty cost already so hopefully this is a simple fix (if there is such a thing with McLaren).
