Electrical issues, my very least favourite.
Some previous owner has added a headlight upgrade with a ballast and air horns.
Horns removed and a normal one arrives today.
The left hand switchgear does not work, right does.
I have opened up the LH and cleaned everything up, still nothing works.
Extra wires, connections and relay has been added.
Clocks have been changed.
Clocks light up and warning lights work, tacho does not work, would the corroded track in the picture cause problems ?
Tomorrow I will go through all the added wiring and check everything.
Failing that... Local bike shop.

I have asked on the forums for a loom, particularly the front bit.
I have got the hid headlight working.
Every accessible wiring connector has been opened, cleaned and put back.
I have received copper track repair tape today.
Ordered a new rec/reg unit with stator and gasket, on pulling apart mine is has had way to much heat in it, I have been told by a couple of people that it is the stator causing the problem.
Put orange bulbs in the indicators.
Plastic welded the inner headlight fairing panels.
Had a busy day.

Have you got an owners manual with wiring diagram? It will normally have a diagram telling you for each switchgear what pins are connected at each switch position. I would start by checking you have 12v actually getting to the switchgear, and then test the switchgear with the continuity test on your multimeter at each of the positions to make sure its working ok.

The diagram will look something like this:

I love fixing stuff like this, I enjoy taking a neglected bike and getting everything working again

Looking at the clocks that track is feeding the dash lights so if they work then it hasn't failed (yet)

It's a rewarding thing to work through it and sort problems.
But I'd hate to be paying someone by the hour to faff with it!

Oh it would very rarely make sense as a paying job

I've taken a few in PX - I swear a couple must have parked a van around the corner and only ridden the last mile biglaugh

How she currently looks... lol.
Surprisingly the heavily corroded track in the clocks has perfect continuity, as do the 2 wires from the battery to the front end (after I cut and repaired 2 crushed spots)
As I'm waiting for parts I stripped the back end.
Ground all rust off, treated and painted, yes it's white... All I have until tomorrow when I can grab a tin of silver.
New fiam horn arrived.

My last cbr600 I put a R1/6 reg rec on as they have a proper heatsink and are higher rated, needs two wires swapping over

Thanks for the update on the electrical issues.

I guess the copper track repair tape may come with some protective paint for once it's stuck down?

If it conducts I may've been tempted to epoxy resin it to the board and cover it with epoxy resin to protect it.

Strange to look at this as a 27 year old bike that needs a restoration as I bought that exact model brand new on an R plate - black and silver like yours. It was the first new bike I'd owned since my DT50MX in 1983. I'd had a couple of bikes just for the hell of it but the CBR was what got me back in to biking proper.

At the time with every purchase of a 600+cc bike Honda gave a free 2-day road skills course with an ex-Police motorcycle rider, it was called the Honda Mac course and was simply fantastic. Until that point I'd only ever pottered around locally but he had us doing about 200 miles a day, all the time illustrating road position, hazard perception etc. I can honestly say that bike and that 2 day course changed my life. Motorcycling is such a big part of me no and without the CBR600 and the Mac course, I doubt it would. It showed me that bikes are a serious method of transport, not just something to go for a 25 mile blast on.

Got pics of the now running bike?
