I had a JT chain and sprocket set fitted in October and it's now snapped 1000 miles later.

Waiting to hear back from the garage that fitted it. What do you think the recourse should be if anything?

On the plus side, AutoAid had a motorcycle recovery van out to me in less than an hour.

Recourse after 1000 miles?

1 million pounds and a gobble off the mechanics wife.

I’m unsure how this will turn out. Doesn’t look like the joining link so probably unlikely that the garage will take any responsibility. Not sure what sort of warranty the chain company will offer but I suspect it will only cover the chain rather than a new engine or casings.

I think you might be in for some bad news.

Sucky sucky sounds a bit extreme but to each their own.

He's said he'll sort it. Depending on how fked it is this might be the perfect excuse for a new bike.

Yeah, if they supplied and fitted it, I would expect the garage to take responsibility after such a short time and mileage; how they then deal with recompense from the chain manufacturer or supplier is up to them.

Sale of goods act, satisfactory quality, fit for purpose etc etc.

JT Chain would not be my first choice or 3rd choice to be honest.

What's the actual damage to the casing?

I can't see you getting ANYWHERE with this. They'll just say you haven't maintained it properly.

I had a JT chain wear out in 11k miles. I can regularly get 25k from DID. Just changed a DID after 27k actually, about 3 weeks ago. Wouldn’t have another JT chain.

JT sprockets are fine though, always been happy with them. A lot of the chain and sprocket kits sold as bike-specific sets from places like Demon Tweeks use DID VX chains with JT sprockets.

Scary….
I use JT sprockets on my ADV bikes, but wouldn’t touch a JT chain.

They will claim maintenance or external factors I suspect, it doesn’t look the cleanest.
