Yes I was speeding. I thought that as it was a DC, that the speed limit was still 70. But it isnt, its been changed to a 50mph. I did a quick spurt overtaking a car. Clear day, no excuses. So now have the paperwork from Dorset plod. Plead guilty...which I am....go to court to plead my case or accept the consequences etc.

The section of road used to be a 70 DC but now isnt....Is there any point of pleading guilty but wanting to go to court to say sorry etc thought it was still a 70. ( Yes I know 78 is over 70 etc).......Or just suck it up and wait and see if they want me to go to court or hand out whatever fines/points/bans??

Anyone here also been in a similar position.....what did you do/get???

You edited while I was trying to quote the previous - thank you for updating. Yep, 78 in a 50 is band C, all the relevant info is on the link provided by the previous poster. So I think you'll have an opportunity to make your case in court. Without other aggrivating factors, the ban would be on the low end of the 7-56 day guideline.

However, I believe that AGT recommends that the defendant does not go to court and pleads guilty online.

Thankyou for the above. have read some of the previous posts re the speeds/fines etc but wondered if there was an update with Liebour being short of money !.

Think I shall just plead guilty and see what happens.

Being stupid isnt much of a defence!

I resemble that remark!

Got done for 60 in a 50 in Worcestershire. Much the same - it was a 70 when I lived there and I clearly wasn't being very observant.

Thankfully that was just an SP30, 3 points and a £100 fine.

And yet you're too lazy to click twice but expect us to guess what you're talking about and do your legwork. I think I'll pass.

Oh, I see. You have nothing interesting to add to this conversation except cheap trolling.

I don’t expect anything, if you want to know then you can look it up, something not out in the public domain maybe a different case. Lazy ???? laugh fool

OP, this is the best advice, read through the thread and also get in touch with ATGLAW.

Reading that guidance it suggest personal mitigation would be taken into account.

OP is honest saying he was an idiot and didn't notice change in limit. If he said so in court that isn't mitigation.
If he said he was in a rush to get home for some reason or other, then that is mitigation.

Is his option in court therefore to be honest and hope that honesty is given sympathy or create a mitigation instead as admitting not paying attention may not help him.

I don't know much about it so asking genuinely as not sure which route I would go if it were me.

Got a band C aswell just about on the low end of band C in my case

i went to court before seeing posts that say just plead guilty and do not attend court was nearly a year before i went to court from the offence date

Previous clean licence gave me 6 points and fine but reduced as early guilty plea plus costs, but still a decent amount, sucked it up

AGTlaw has shown himself to be on the money with regard to how motoring offences are dealt with many times. I can't say I recall an incident of him posting something on the subject and it not turning out to be correct.

If you have a reason to believe what's on his website is incorrect, but don't offer anything to explain how or why, the majority of people are just going to ignore you.
