Evening

its coming up to 5 years since I bought my 997.2 convertible and its time for a change, the three cars on my list are

1. c2018 Vantage
2. c2017 991.t Targa GTS
3. c2015 California T

So any insight from Vantage owners that followed a similar route, budget is c80k

cheers in advance

I considered these amongst options before getting my Vantage Roadster.

The issue I had with the Targa and Cali (ok “recommended” here) is that you have to be stopped to operate the roof, whereas the Vantage is done inn7 secs up to 30mph. If I got caught on a motorway in a sudden downpour I’d prefer my chances in not coming to a stop. Also, the Cali boot opens to stow the roof, hence the recommendation, so the boot contents aren’t scattered to the wind.

Other than that I feel the 911 is a somewhat common sight now and doesn’t still give a feel-good factor when just cruising along.

The Cali T is a good drive and sound but rather basic inside - I was looking for something I could enjoy at every drive, be that touring France or nipping to Screwfix 🙂

Thank you, I'd love a roadster but they are just out of budget currently, all good points you make though, my 997 allows roof operation on the move, although my motorway strategy if a downpour ensues is keep going as fast as possible to create a bubble and then dive under the next available flyover and closing the roof at a standstill, always seemed safer than doing sub 20mph in the inside lane !
