It's probably the suspension of the water sharing agreement that is a bit of an escalation this time. typically it's fine after both sides just kill a bunch of people from the other side and they call it a score draw so they can both back off thinking their face has been upheld but Pakistan has always clearly stated things are a bit more serious wrt to that water agreement.... that said, they aren't particularly in a position to do very much so perhaps india can just take the opportunity to annex a bit more ground given.... they can.
