It took Chat less than one minute to come up with this design from a fresh request.

Things have moved on a bit since my Sinclair ZX80.

I do like the look of that.

I asked it to do similar for the SM, and it did a new concept

You can see that with a Hyundai badge....

Yes, its AI generated slop, but it’s not done a bad job with that

That DS should be pretty workable, the engines are mounted quite far back and that has a high line and plenty of pedestrian safety room at the front, cant see why the c6 chassis couldnt do another turn in a more pleasing body.

Not so radical with asking the same for a 928:

(mainly cos it's perfect already!)

The image generation does get better with each version. I asked it to make me a modern TVR Chimera.

(Let's ignore that it's got roof!)

It's not far off what you'd expect if some grown-ups bought the TVR name and started churning out cars...

Ah, another 911...I can't see 928 lineage in that at all...

That looks great. I am not sure about the wheel design.

I've asked Chat GPT for my third image based on the previous two. I've asked for the wheel design to be changed to be more like the original.

I know the thread is just for people’s enjoyment and I should leave it at that, ignore this as a grumpy pratts musing, my apologies OP.

Why are people worshiping at the alter of this, it’s as though it’s taking over daily conversation/thinking there are so many threads on the subject, are we not diving head first into this intellectual malaise, without assisting it further?

I like the alter/altar typo. I checked the definition of altar:

1. : a usually raised structure or place on which sacrifices are offered or incense is burned in worship. often used figuratively to describe a thing given great or undue precedence or value especially at the cost of something else. sacrificed his family life on the altar of career advancement.

For me it chimes with the iconic aspect of the DS, some cars in general, and the sacrifice angle as in interacting with AI is helping improve it and help it take over.

For me AI revisiting the original DS has more influence on me that performing artists who say AI is ripping off their creativity and endangering their future output by developing their previous work.

ChatGPT didn't create a third version of the two I already asked it for lastnight so I gave it a link and some more text and it's repeated back to me what I told it previously in a similar vein. A bit like a Waiter or Waitress it's repeated my order back to me.

An interesting thread - I like the Citroen. I've no direct experience with AI but have seen lots of generated images; at the moment, I'm fairly ambivalent about its use as a tool.

I can still remember the stock phrase from years ago, 'The camera doesn't lie' - that hasn't aged so well.
