Hello all,
Went for a short spin yesterday and my brakes feel odd.
Cant lock up the tyres, pedal feels the same but the pads feel as if they are not biting the disk just squeezing it.
Feels as if the pads are made of wood.
Could this be as a result of the CREAM trackday?
Will try again later and see if a couple of hard stopps will get some feel back.
Any ideas?
Nick

May just be uneven pad wear, I've found that the single pot calipers flex enough under heavy use to wear the pads at an angle on track, it takes a lot of gentle use to wear them flat again. Or you can just replace the pads. Also if the brakes have been overheated you need to replace the pads and fluid. If you replace the pads for any reason, make sure you follow the manufacturers instructions to bed the new ones in.

The Cerbie has four pot calipers on the front...or am I missing something?
I agree that your pads are likely to be shot after the CREAM track day, and agree the 'bedding' in advise.
Maybe a time to upgrade to the grooved discs?...mine now stop like nothing Ive ever had before...just got a horrid squeel sometimes....

Sorry, comments on single pot were applicable to lesser TVRs which have the cheap and nasty floating caliper.
Given that you have decent calipers overheated pads/fluid would seem more likely, requiring a change/flush to correct the problem.
Depending on the piston sizes you can get a similar wear problem on 2/4 pots where the pads splay out at the front under load, and if this is excessive it can make the pistons bind. If you have this just swap the inner/outer pads in each caliper and they will wear themselves flat again.

I do hope not, though I am still waranty'd so that should help.
I thought there could be something up, as it was fine all the way home, just four days later and all does not seem well.
What do I need to check, for the servo? I know what it is/does where is it located? can I see it?
or should I get it taken into the dealers?
the servo does sound right, no power upon pedal pressure.mmmmmmm.

If your brake servo has failed you will find out about it in no uncertain terms! Try parking on a slope with the engine off, pump the brakes a few times to drain the servo, then let it roll forwards and see how easy it is to stop. Scary!

True, bbut only if it had totally gone, if it was just 'on its way out' then this could happen.
All this talk of the servo,
Now I think about it that is exactly what it feels like, imagine braking with the engine off and that's how it feels.
Would there be fluid coming out? as I did not see any.
I do have the tuscan drilled disks, surely one track day would not kill em.
Nick.

Agreed...I had braided hoses fitted with my upgrade and 5.1 fluid, which should illiminate most overheating to the fluid problems...
