WARNING, NICE PICTURES INSIDE
Discussion
i have decided to post some pictures that *I* consider to be half decent, hopefully some of you think so too. I would ask that anyone who takes a picture they think is perfect (not saying these are!), or merely very good, to post it here so that I can get some pleasure from looking at it, and please don't worry about people thinking you are only doing it to get compliments - if I think it deserves a compliment it will get one, and I think a lot of other people feel the same.
Also, I am not putting these up specifically for critique, but if you would like to make a critical comment please feel free. But I would prefer to be told I'm a (very hansome) genius ;)
Anyway, on with the show

Nice picture
How's that done David, or is that giving trade secrets away?
You can do it by producing two layers with the one colour picture, both the same. Then greyscale the top layer and rub out bride and groom in that layer to expose the colour layer underneath in that area.. this technique is also useful for adding blur to areas around a sharp focus object.
Cheers
Matt.

cool sounds easy. But how do you rub out so accurately. Use the lasoo tool around the couple, then cut ?

DCW - I feel like I'm in 'Four Weddings and a Funeral'!
Really like the 'order of service' pic and the Glen Coe pic (but then I'm biased). Was the Wedding up here or was that a coincidence?
show off!
coincidence - i was up in scotland for the 612 story, the wedding pics are from a variety of things i have done over the summer

well someone has already posted a method of doing it, and there are about 4 that I can tthink of. However, only one really gets the results I want in a short space of time (I preocessed this particular pic at th ewedding in about a minute)
First I adjust the contrast and colours so that the bits I want to be in colour are correct, then I set this as the history state. I then convert the whole picture in BW using an action I made which is biased towards the red channel. I then turn up the contrast quite a lot (more than I would if the whole pic was BW) so that it will be very different to the colour section that I then replace quickly and roughly with the history brush

Just use the eraser tool. Roughly do the main "body" of the area, then zoom right in and make the erase tool small (by pixel if necessary depending on what you are up to) to sort out edges and fiddly bits. All pretty straightforwards and very quick too.

just take your time until you get a bit more practised. Zoom in, and make sure you are using an appropriately sized brush with an appropriate "fuzziness". experiment until you find out what works best. for something thats only for web its a one minute job - doesn't have to be perfect!
