People rubbing my paintwork
Discussion
I have just bought an M4 in Sakhir Orange.
I've had four people go 'ooooh nice colour', and then for some unknown reason they get their fingers and rub the paintwork back and forth.
Never had this before, it's driving me nuts!
The fifth person, my brother in law was round last night and i saw him go to do it and i had to shout at him not to do it.

Shoot them in the face or chill.
I’m not sure what the right answer is but I had this with my Porsche years ago, especially when the the car was really dusty and people loved running their fingers along the bonnet. Very, very annoying.
Yes, especially when the car has a layer of dust.I’m not sure what the right answer is but I had this with my Porsche years ago, especially when the the car was really dusty and people loved running their fingers along the bonnet. Very, very annoying.
I wonder if it is only certain colour cars that make people want to do this.
I guess when the new car novalty wears off i will be more relaxed about it.

Who were the other 4? If strangers while the car is parked out and about, absolutely worth a little word if for nothing more than a hope of reducing this.I've had four people go 'ooooh nice colour', and then for some unknown reason they get their fingers and rub the paintwork back and forth.

A long while ago now, I had a custom painted Audi A4. Nothing special but I'd modified it to my (then-questionable) tastes. Once, I parked up close to a chic bar in the more salubrious part of Soho back when driving in central London wasn't a feckin' chore that required a planning committee and Sheikh-tier pockets, only to come back to see a group of drinkers stood right by it - one of whom was leaning on the car by the roof rail, another sort of perched on the drivers wing.
As me and my friend approached, I said "nice car mate, is it yours?"
While receiving some head-shakes and a "no" or two, my friend (a soft-hearted but really quite beefy bloke) blurted out "well get off it or I'll f

Bless 'em, they were apologetic but its beggars belief that not just a lone stranger, but an entire clique of revellers would consider using a random parked car as their street furniture.
The audacity of strangers around stuff that ain't theres is astounding at times. I've been known to call out people for touching cars at shows and meets, because they should honestly know far better.
I seemed to only catch rage from the above situation halfway back to the suburbs.
Someone else might have slapped them or made some other scene.

I was astonished at last year's Festival of Speed to see so many people thinking it was absolutely fine to lean against or touch Nick Mason's Ferarri GTO 250. £40 million quids worth and people were draping themselves all over it. If it's not yours get your fat sweaty paws off.
People who have no respect for other peoples property (and often their own) do my head in!If it had been roped off, they'd have probably let their children go under it and lean against it for pictures.
I witnessed a woman the other day kick the rear drivers side door of her Ford EcoSport closed with her foot (she was wearing shoes)
