Funding for the arts

I'm not sure how I feel about public money being spent on funding for the arts.

I'm OK with National Lottery grants being used as it is optional for people to contribute. I haven't bought a lottery ticket for decades.

Some successful artists do gift back like the Mercury Phoenix Trust and I feel this is a better route, especially when tax cuts are being made in other areas.
