Imagine if it was possible to choose and own one, and one only, new brand new unused motorbike from any era, money no object, what would you pick? It would be crated up and unopened in the same condition it left the factory.

I'd go for a 1968 Triumph Bonneville USA Export model.

I was in two minds whether to choose a Thruxton actually.

An NR750 would definitely appeal. Failing that a HP2 Sport.

Me too. I've got a minichamps model of one, which is as close as I'll get.

Did you go to Stafford at the weekend? They had the biggest collection of SS100s seen in one (public) place there to celebrate 100 years of the model. Think there was 22 in the display plus a couple in the auction.

I went Sunday specially to see them, it was a stunning display!

I've got a Venom and I can concur they do like to hurt your leg if you have the ignition too far advanced. They have a really low geared kickstart; you only get about a quarter of a turn per kick. That's why the Velocette 'routine' exists - if you don't use it wisely you will have a very sore leg hehe

Thruxtons are currently as cheap as they've been in decades so it's a good time to buy if you wanted one!

Honestly - whatever is worth the most and I'd sell it on

I already own the best bikes for me and I'm not sure I could pick the best one of them

Currently I think it's the 990 Adventure but I wouldn't want a new one - because I'll drop it

As much as I love the 20s bikes, I think I'd still have to go for either an NR750:

or a Bimota Tesi 1D:
