Are opc trying to shaft me?

My C2 is booked in for its 24k service which costs £510 they said it needed plugs and brake fluid to bringing the total to just under £800.This is my fith porsche 4 boxsters before this one and plugs were always 48months and brake fluid ive never had done.When i told the nice girl this on the phone she told me that they(opc)RECOMEND every 24months.Anyway you get my drift if i had'nt of checked they would have just raffted me and she was really insistant that i should have it done!Is this hard sell the opc way now?Or am i wrong in my thinking and this is for my own good!

Brake fluid is always a good thing to change. I'd even ask for Castrol SRF personally.

Plugs are part of the service schedule I thought?

Brake fluid should be changed every 24 months on ANY car.

Spark Plug Replacement is not required at 24k, I thought it was at 48k. Brake fluid should be done every two years regardless.

brake fluid change is every 2 years or 24k, so that needs doing, & its always extra cost to a quoted service charge. I thought plugs were every 36k miles? On my TT at the last major service i was told that it was 36k & that as mine had only done 22k it was not needed.

It does say 48months in the service book,its not the extra cash that bothers me,if it needs it then ok,i just rather go out for a nice meal than spend it on plugs etc..Im no great fan of spending on a service and i'd take it to redline if i could but that warranty thing,anyway thanks dan

every 2 years for the brake fluid

Rob, if you want to make a significant saving consider supplying your own fluids (!??!) oil, brake fluids etc, I saved quite a bit on the OPC charges for Mobil 1.

Consider contacting www.opieoils.co.uk/lubricants.htm and get your oil from these guys, great bunch and great prices.

I am pretty sure that SRF requires an alcohol flush of the entire brake system.

I would go for AP5 or Silkonene Pro Race 2000. Bikers and my cart racing friends swear by the Silkolene. It is a 24 month fluid and requires no special flushing.

Both will make the pedal feel like its got a lump of wood wedged under it, even on track.

Just did a bit of digging on brake fluids, as I am out of touch.

Castrol Silicon Race Fluid cannot be used in mineral based brake systems, like ours.

Although its boiling point is 320 degC, 20 degC higher than Silkolene, it only got an 18 month max life and can only tolerate 0.1% moisture content. It, therefore, should really be changed for more frequently in our humid climate. Silkolene and AP are far less hygroscopic and will last in excess of 24 months.

The spark plug change is supposed to be a real shitty job with the exhaust headers obstructing the job.
