New R1300 RS looks a lot better than the old bike. A pity they haven’t made it any lighter. I think worth a test ride. Anyone else interested?

Had the 1200, got the 1250, was looking forward to the 1300, disappointed. Great stead was made of the weight saving of the 1300GS over it's predecessor, how come the R and RS are heavier? "More centralised mass for better handling" code for "losing the low CofG for no discernible benefit". A whole 1cm off the wheelbase
Looks a bit cheap and awkward, don't like the blue and even the triple black doesn't work for me. Pass.

Got a 1250R and similarly to the new RS the upgrade hasn't introduced anything to make me change. Unlike the GS that has the adaptive ride which when I tested it was a game changer.
It'll sell okay but I'd be interested to see how many existing owners feel the urge to change. I certainly wasn't going to trade in my 1250R.

If I was getting something for long distances, I'd definitely get this over the GS that everyone seems to go for instead.
I tried a 1250RS thinking it made far more sense for on road use than the GS, but couldn't get on with the head down riding position.Still think the 1250rs is one of the best all round bikes out there.
I test rode a 1250 at work. I really wanted to like it.
Im used to a GSA for my own bike and use an RT at work. The RS was tiny compared to them and I rode back after four miles and took the RT for the rest of the shift.
I am six foot 4 and over 20 stone however. Those not as tall/fat loved it.

Have been mulling getting something better for long distance, liked the look of the 1300R, but this RS gives me Honda NC750X vibes. The 1250RS I think is too high at the front and I dont like the trellis looking frame by the footpegs, but the comfort and shaft drive is appealing. I'll go look at these and the RT when in showrooms, apparently coming June.

Yes, on the thread about one new bike, I thought of this sort of thing. Go fast, go far, go comfy. Gassing Station | Biker Banter | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
