We had a smart meter fitted four weeks ago (EDF)

Got the indoor display working, got the app, but still no real time usage showing on the app. It is set up to send a signal every 30 minutes.

The house is in a good 4G area.

How long does it take to sort itself out?

Had a smart meter for 5 years now. They gave up trying to get it connected about 3 years ago.

Mine took over a year to start working.

To be fair, I am in fairly poor signal area, so it probably started working when enough neighbours got them, and the readings could "hop" to the mobile mast.

Should only take a couple of days

Maybe worth getting Hugo app, needs a few details to set it up & that will show the data

At least it will prove if the problem is with the meter, or EDF

Raise a complaint. I had to do that to get mine fixed, was a dodgy install.
Once you get a complaint in the system they got it sorted for me.

A couple of months for me I can't remember if I had to do some extra checks for them on the gas side of things because the electricity works straight away I remember the gas definitely took some time

We are only electric. No gas in the village.

Do EDF actually support real-time data in the App?
Before I had mine installed by Scottish Power a couple of years ago it did not even occur to me that data would not be available. Had various energy monitors for years some which could do this.
The in home display updates about every 10 seconds. I’ve yet to find a way of recording this data or accessing it remotely.

I have the meter set to 1/2 hour reading, the best I get in the App is a daily figure. I think it only takes a daily reading for the gas.

I generally find any £ figures on the App or display are complete works of fiction as they take no account of the actual rate you are being charged at. Today I have my E7 over night rate, standard rate and weekend half price between 11-4pm.

With EDF in 2 years our smart meter was never smart. Switched to Octopus and it was smart in two weeks.

EDF also and it worked immediately - or as close to 'immediately' that I never noticed it not doing.

Some of the apps are pretty good for seeing usage.

Hugo is good but is closing in a few weeks.

Loop is ok but doesn't do hourly breakdowns.

Bright is currently the best I've come across. It takes the tariff straight from the meter so costs are accurate and it does 30 min/hourly/daily/weekly/monthly usage.

Same here EDF swapped out our ex Scottish Gas SMETS 1 meters for SMETS 2, then swapped them out after 18 months for dual frequency ones, worked great for 3 months then gas meter went off line - lasted another 6 months or so with EDF either lying, being incompetent, or employing thick as mince staff and gave up, moved to Octopus and smart meters burst into life following day and have never went wrong since

My SMART Meter works fine .... provided I open my garage doors getmecoat
It was OK before it changed to SMETS2 and went off 2/3/4G to the "improved DCC private network"

https://www.smartdcc.co.uk/our-smart-network/

So I have to tell ALEXA to open the garage doors to see readings on my In Home Display ... now that's really SMART hehe

Hugo was ok but is changing from a free app to a “pro” version which is £2:99 a month, so that’s me out.

I use bright here, only because tomato can’t seem to get the data since switching in January, it was working fine with octopus. Not a problem as i haven’t been asked to pay for any electric used since.

Bright also has an option to manually set a tariff, including TOU tariffs and shows usage/costs well.
