I have greased, siliconed the electric drive, glass holder slots, checked that its not too tight but the window is still reluctant to lift in the first 1/3 of the lift and has to be helped. Any idea what is wrong or I can do to remedythis.

Silicone grease is the right stuff to use on the window runners, but if somebody's previously tried ordinary lubricating oil it tends to perish the rubbers, making them swell so they jam the glass. Does it work OK when the door is open?

Although you may well need to get at the insides of the dor to check everything, I'd advise you to be cautious about it because getting the door lining off is a pig of a job, and once you're in its very easy to mess up the alignment but quite tricky to put it right afterwards.
