Hello friends, I have a problem, I have a 2008 BMW 318i automatic for which a few months ago the rear differential began to make a noise, I did tests with the mechanic since the sound is very annoying and it sounds both at low and high speeds, when I decelerate the sound changes however if I put the car in neutral the sound goes away, my question is: they have suggested I use an additive for the differential since I did the oil change and the sound continues, if that is the case is there one that you recommend and if not I would like to know if it is better to change the differential, I understand that it has a 3.38 ratio however I am not sure, I appreciate your suggestions

The differential pinion bearings are knackered and no oil or additive will help. It's a common fault.

The diff ratio is 3.9:1 and the differential part numbers are 33107524325 and 7524326. A 2008 car will probably have auto stop start so you can only fit another 3.91. If you fit a different ratio the car will have reduced performance and the DSC/DTC/ABS lights on.
