Badly worn steering rack
Discussion
I've just been told that the steering rack housing is too worn to repair/adjust for wear.
Has anyone else had this problem and if so did you find a safe and effective way to repair it or did you have to find another rack?
My rack is unfortunately LHD so I won't find anything in the UK and the number of LHD cars was tiny.

The exit hole for the shaft on the RHS is too worn for the available adjustment to take up the slack. Apparently bushing is possible but would cost around 500...
If I knew the exact Opel/Vauxhall LHD part number I might have a chance to find an old one but the parts list I have only has a RHD TVR number.
It's all a bit of pickle.

It is generally considered that the body of the rack was from a Vauxhall Chevette (UK) or Opel Kadett C (mainland Europe). But searching images on the internet it looks similar but not exactly the same?
Obviously the input shaft is different (yellow) but also the pinion preload and bottom cap (red) look different?
