Trade sale but warranty?

I'm interested in a PXd bike from a main dealer but they state:
Bike will be sold as a trade sale and will be provided with a 6 month warranty & 12 month MOT.
When I asked if the Stator (a major engine out job would be covered). NO.
Apperently it's not electrical system etc items.
How can they state trade sale yet offer a warranty?!

It's a motorrad dealer as well. Bike hasn't done much mileage over the past 18months hence why I drilled down into T&Cs/the bike. No receipts for any major work

Personally it would depend on how much you like the bike and also how cheap it is. The price has to reflect the level of risk involved, if not more.Bike will be sold as a trade sale and will be provided with a 6 month warranty & 12 month MOT.

Just work on the basis that it's a trade sale and there's 'no warranty' and you won't go far wrong. As long as you do your due diligence and buy at the right price you'll be fine. Ignore the replies to your post saying otherwise - a bit of reading and due diligence and you could end up with a bargain.
It's all about a bit of common sense. If it looks like a turd then walk away.

This all day long.On any vehicle, soon as see “Trade Sale”, just click off and into the next one.
Think it’s irrelevant if they say it has a warranty, any dealer willing to be deceptive enough to try the “trade sale to the public” rubbish can’t be trusted on anything.

Agree, if they're treating it as a private sale then private price. Though why they've not just auctioned it would be worth asking...also, do you keep bikes for long anyway? Is it an R1200? It is a known problem on pre 2013 models but they changed the flywheel to supposedly help with ventilation on later ones.
I do like the boxer engines but it was another thing that put me off buying a bike with one. Having had to do a stator and a clutch on an R1 and being done in only a couple of hours, I decided engine out and back end off to do the same jobs if needed on a BMW wasn't worth it.
If it's a worry for you, don't bother. It'll just hang over your head.
