Laser cutting - anyone tried it?
Discussion
My mate has laser cutting facilities, but it’s mainly carbon and stainless steels, I’ve never seen brass materials.
It’s super precise, they make enclosures for one company with the cut out back in the aperture as a lid retained by magnets, it’s literally a hairline gap, tiny and very neat. Previous punched item needed separate material for the lid and had a 1.5mm clearance.
It’s very expensive to set up though, one offs are very expensive, a half day run off a program gives a more economic price per unit.

Hi,
We have had various parts laser cut over the years and it's very exact.
Would recommend Laser Profiles in Dorset although there will be a minimum fee (probably at least £100+). Many companies will only accept a CAD drawing, but Laser Profiles will accept templates which they can then scan in.
I have no connection to the company other than being a satisfied customer.

If its a one off you may find a PH'er can help, several are hobbiests.
Alternatively, talk to your local school/college/uni
They all have cutters of various types and a friendly student/technician may be able to help.
My daughters school used to open up their design workshops for supervised use for a few quid a session.
