29 volt transformer instead of 24 for recliners

So the transformer on one of our settee recliners has packed up. Stupidly I’ve ordered one that’s 29 volts instead of 24. Bearing in mind they are only used for a short burst, do we think they will be ok?

Maybe, maybe not.

How much is the chair worth to you? Unless its close to the value of buying the right voltage I wouldnt risk it personally.

Would the increase in speed mean you exiting through the lounge window?

You might get away with it. I'd expect a fair safety margin for heat generation to have been built into the original design. I'd hazard a guess that there are probably some control electronics sitting between the transformer and the motor rather than just having an AC motor and some micro switches. Control electronics might cope perfectly happily with 29VAC. Or they might melt.
