Single din T5 radio replacement

My T5 had an after market single din head unit, it's pretty old and things like the volume wheel needs spinning lots to adjust the levels.

So I want a new one, just a bit of a rubber duck here: if I ordered something like this ()https://www.amazon.co.uk/Pioneer-DEH-S720DAB-Car-Player-Single/dp/B07X6KDWK2/ref=mp_s_a_1_3 )it should be a straight swap for FM radio. I guess being a different brand I might need an adapter but that should be easy enough.

That looks like if you bin off the top slot you will be able to fit a double DIN.

Thats what I’d do.

I quite like the cubby hole for chucking glasses in but hopefully it's an easy swap

Just remember about the red and yellow wires in VWs... Take note of where they are connected on the current unit. There's a fair chance they'll be swapped from what the instructions say.

Or it might have an ISO connector.
