M140i - Injectors pre 2018 - How concerned should I be?
Discussion
Hi All
Just doing some further research before pulling the trigger on a 2017 M140i (Manual). The cars on 74k with FSH and the latest owner is an enthusiast and has spent a few quid on some worthy mods - Osprey sports cat, Eibach springs, Topgear valved exhaust, 763M wheels, etc. I can't fault him, he's only done 6k miles since the mods were put on and had the car for about 1.5 years.
The car also has a BM3 map he put on (and will give the license to me) but all of this is very new to me. Apparently, it's a multi-map you can switch between modes e.g. Standard, Stage 1 / Stage 2. Which presumably is done on fuel / levels. Only ever been run on V-power.
I've done a deep dive and slightly concerned with the injector issues these can have. Am I overthinking it? Being a 2017 I presume this will have the non-revised ones. (Though also, people say these can fail too... so that's great)
I see some people retrospectively add the revised injectors (like £600-800) installed for some peace of mind, yet others say they've had no bother.
If one goes, presumably it's a misfire - or worse
I'm nervous of bore wash etc and having a catastrophic failure - am I overthinking it>?
For this reason I'd simply put the map back to standard or stage 1 at most - is my thinking flawed? I thought this will be better for the car in terms of clutch wear and tear, injectors, etc.
Thanks for any opinions guys.

I have owned standard 2017 M140 for 4 years, currently sat on 71k I use Bimmerlink to check fuel rail pressure periodically. Theory is the pressure should rise after switching the car off due to heat, so far thats what mine does. If an injectors was stuck open or leaking the pressure would drop immediately.
Bottom line is when you Consider how many Gen 1 B58s are out there, failures seen to be few and far between, mostly affecting modded vehicles. Having owned an N53 engined 3 series the B58 injectors issue is not a huge concern.
