Hi,
I'm going to buy a blue dial Panerai Radiomir and wondered if any of you have any suggestions for buying below RRP? I've read on here that a number of you achieved good percentage reductions by going into ADs and simply asking. Is Paneral a manufacturer that ADs will discount? I've previously bought a Tudor Black Bay Bronze and a Heuer Silverstone from Chrono24 and those purchases were smooth. There are some Radomirs on there that are still lower than UK retail after paying the costs of importing. However, can I do better buying in the UK with a discount?!
Thanks for your advices,
Will

I got 15% off my Blue Mare from Bucherer in Westfield, just by asking.
I think it's always worth asking if your paying outright.

Depends on used/NOS/or new tbh - together whether the watch in question is limited edition or sought after

Top end Panerai stuff (Equation of time etc) you'll be lucky to get from an AD let alone a discount. These are generally Panerai outlets only.

New - it depends if there is a list/pre order. 10-15% isn't unusual but if its 1 of 500 etc they may well all have gone already....

I've said previously Panerai quality has fallen off a cliff and I stand by that. That said I had a chat with my AD MD last week and Panerai have acknowledged that issue and their 2025 models seem to be back to 2010 quality - worth noting.

The new/used drop off is still notable though = so look at Blowers/watchfinder (ive used both) if looking at used

As per the usual response - speak to Dominic Hackett.

This, speak to Dom in any case. He put me in touch with an AD in London when I got my Luminor, and the price was highly competitive.

Question more than a comment

If a watch is available new with a material discount doesn’t that indicate it’s going to have poor residuals ? I know most watches lose value but those available with a 20% discount at point of sale are surely watches that will drop more during your ownership ?

I’d say so but only a fool would buy a watch based on perceived residuals.

In saying that, I bought a Speedmaster Pro with a 13% discount from an Omega boutique (along with a bottle of Aqua Terra EDT thrown into the deal) and sold it 2 years later for a fair chunk more than I paid for it. Pure fluke though.

Thanks for the advices. As was said, I just needed to ask. Goldsmiths offered 7% but I bought from another AD who offered an 18% discount. I've bought it to keep so not too worried about the residuals. Appreciated.

Agreed, buy the watch(es) you love and want to own, not something you think you might make money on.
