2017 Porsche Panamera Turbo ST
Discussion
My new favourite car purchase; a 2017 Panamera Turbo ST bought from Stratstone Select in March with 40k miles.

Why did I buy it - In 2010 I bought a 997 C2S and every time it went for a service/warranty work at Porsche, they loaned me a Panamera, which I actually preferred to drive, if not look at:

Having been to the launch evening of the 971 shape Panamera back in 2016, I thought it was stunning but out of reach. Fast forward 8 years and they are 1/3 the price. I wasn’t looking for a turbo initially but after looking for buying advice on the PH forums, things kind of escalated.

Where I’ve been - A few trips to Goodwood including Taxed and Tasty. The roads from Guildford via Haslemere and Midhurst were a good opportunity to try out the suspension in the low setting, which completely transforms the ride taking it from limousine to 911 levels. Apparently this car will accelerate to 60 in 3.6 seconds, reach 190 mph and lap ‘the ring’ in around 7 mins 30, which is pretty epic.
Work needed - A few teething issues to resolve at the start but now it’s probably at Porsche Approved Used level.
The first month was met with the following (all covered under a 2 year warranty):
- Drivers seat motor and rail, which failed on collection.
- Air con service
- New battery
- Recalibration of servos on the front bumper aero - had to go to Porsche for this
- While at Porsche Guildford, I mentioned the annoying creaking panoramic roof sun blinds, to which they gave me some £80 grease for free! This has completely cured the problem.
At just over 40k miles, checks were made to ensure the following was completed:
- Gearbox Service
- Spark plugs replaced
Stratstone prep included tyres and brakes being at a certain % wear, therefore pads and rear tyres replaced. Exterior and interior refurbished.
The above would have cost me the same as what I sold my CLK55 for, so good to all be sorted.
What next - road trip booked to France in the summer, which is exactly the point of this car. Attempting to keep the interior cleaner than the other wagon, which generally resembles the floor of a McDonalds.

Congratulations and what a lovely car. I got mine 11 months back but is a 970.2 3.0V6 D, as I use as my everyday car. I’d love a 971 next, especially the Sport Tursimo, gotta be one of the coolest designs for me. Not many on the road either. I love the interior design. 11 months back you could not touch any engined 971 for below £42k, now I’ve seen some as low as £26,000 so mega value. I bet yours was £120k new if not more! Mine was £88k new and set me back £23k last year with some nice options. Enjoy mate

Macron - yes a tremendous engine and hopefully low maintenance as it’s essentially an RS6 engine.
RC1807 - GTS is what I was originally looking for but wanted the extra boot space and 3 seats in the back :-).
Chris_i8 - I had a look on howmanyleft.com and was quite surprised (119). Doesn’t look like you can buy the Panamera’s in this format anymore.
Mad Maximus - Couldn’t get a picture without her haha.
Mezger - I was after a non-hybrid also, which made it harder to find. Although, there were 3 for sale on Autotrader when I bought mine.
Danb79 - Thanks, will keep the diary going. Hoping for service items only over the next couple of years. Fingers crossed.

Amazing spec! Red leather seats also??
You must have some great memories on those road trips.
The furthest I’ve been is the northern most point of Denmark (Skagen) with an autobahn trip. This was in my 997, which ended up dripping oil after. Hoping this is more robust.

Ronan do you not run it with the red wheels in Canada? It looks epic with them.
In the winter I need the smaller regular wheels and snowtires. Running down from Canada to Arizona about 90% of the trip is vulnerable to bad weather so I leave them on for winter- a little example from last Westward trip:Ooh I
The 4 litre GTS/Turbo is sadly really rare, and even rarer in ST form. The Curse of the Taycan.

like that. Interior is just right on these and they’re super comfy, really good ride but quite pointy as well. A million miles away from a similarly priced Macan. The doors are cool - they have a piston (I think) that means they’ll stop at any angle - great for car parks. A very well thought out car. Kind of on my shortlist but it’d have to be warrantied from Porsche. The 4 litre GTS/Turbo is sadly really rare, and even rarer in ST form. The Curse of the Taycan.

Yes I think you’re right on the Taycan taking away Panamera buyers. For me, a pure EV is not an option and I don’t want to look after an engine + electrics on a hybrid. macron said:
