Some good pictures and write up on the RUF RT12,

I saw this on another forum, apologies for the cross reference and outright cheek of it.
It just seemed too good not to share and may give some styling clues to the 997TT.

This post is probably not safe to view for GuyR & MikeT as it may end up being a little expensive

Fabulous.

Have they built a 4WD version yet?

I don't think they've finished a 4wd version yet.

There is a right-hand-drive one already in London though (albeit with a 3.8S compressor engine not the 3.8 996TT version). I drove in it this week and it is beautiful inside and out.

I'd have one in a heartbeat, but a 650bhp, 4wd RT12 with the integrated rollcage is over £200k!

Seems like we have the same problem. Lack of cash.

Woah! In black it looks sensational. I liked the orange original car, but in black...

That's quite nice. Indeed, *very* quite.

I also think the rear of the car looks somewhat 928-esque - anyone agree?

Don't laugh, but could they do this kind of conversion to a convertable ??

Also, if you buy a new car from them, how would it work in terms of warranty when you are over here, and they are over there ??

Or would they use the OPC network ??

It looks great apart from that funny little section of grille at the leading edge of the bonnet. Somehow it gives the car a dorky little grin.

No doubt a fabulous beast to drive, and you can't see the nose when you're driving it I guess.....

I keep seeing Beetles in the distance and thinking "ooo another 997"

In a way, that'd make the Boxster better than the 997, cos I keep seeing MR2s in the distance and thinking "here comes a Boxster"... at least the MR2 is a sports car.

It almost looks like the cross-eyed Morgan - pretty hideous.

Did you drive or passenger in it Guy? How did the S/C engine feel?

Thanks

I find your car a lot prettier Guy.

Really not convinced by these 'retro' headlights. The 996 facelift/turbo lights just have a cool hightech look to them. These just look like they came from a new mini. Still if it gets the 993 owners to upgrade, I can see Porsche's reasoning!

I agree, i find the 996 better looking than the 997.

I drove the blue car, and it is really superb. We took the car onto the autobahn and i was very impressed by the power. Its a very quick car...

My favourite part though was the sport exhaust system. At the touch of a button it goes from quiet GT tourer, to screaming racecar, really cool.

all the best

This is sad, but the thing that really impresses me is the ohlins suspension with lifting collars. Would save a lot of scraping the splitter!

I don't think they accept Martian pounds

Apparently they do, but just the deposit.
